8Q is the new experimental wing of the Singapore Art Museum. ohplay was commissioned to develop an extensive set of print materials for its launch event and art exhibition. The concept of the event was “School” as 8Q was formerly and old school compound.

Once upon a time, a boy met a girl to create a subtly androgynous look. The boy is called Al, who likes tailoring with a masculine edge, the other’s Alicia, who fancies all things flirty and feminine. They’re actually the same person, the schizophrenic mind of a local fashion designer, who approached ohplay to produce a brand identity and online presence for her label: AL&ALICIA.
We were asked to create an brand identity and website for Arts Business Asia – a company that connects the art world to the corporations for collaborative art projects.
Award winning Singaporean composer, Nigel Woodford, challenged us with the task of developing an identity for his record label. His brief to us was to “keep it surreal”. Sound we represent, in speech bubbles, talking machines it is.

Wong Kar Wai’s favourite movie still photographer Wing Shya set up a new production company called LALA STUDIO in Hong Kong and they approached us a logotype and visual identity systems for them. The brief was to be bold and striking. They loved the spot yellow and the cost effective CD case was an instant hit! It’s perforated and could be detached to distribute in 1’s, 2’s or 3’s.

After an external revamp of their space, the next goal of the National Museum was to increase the awareness of its membership scheme open to both public and corporate bodies.
We helped in the relaunch of the iconic 80’s windrunner jacket. From the visual identity, official interactive site, packaging, in-store experience to viral video campaigns, we pretty much conceptualized and developed the whole works for this regional exercise. Unfortunately the website is now defunct.
